Rukundo Kanyankole joined Peace Corps Rwanda as Program Manager for Education in 2009. He is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, managing, and evaluating Peace Corps Rwanda’s teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) and Teacher Support Project.
Prior to joining Peace Corps, he had been teaching English as a second language for seven years to different age groups and at various levels of proficiency. He also directed English language programs focusing on English for academic and professional purposes at university level (2004-2009).
Rukundo holds an MA in Applied Linguistics/TEFL from the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and a BA in Organizational Studies and English Language Studies from Makerere University (Uganda). He currently volunteers as the chair of the Advisory Board for the Association of Teachers of English in Rwanda. Rukundo is passionate about goal-focused teacher development programs and the impact they have on teacher capacity building and effective classroom practice.
