H.E. Prof. Kivutha Kibwana is the Governor of the Government of Makueni County, Kenya. He is an accomplished human rights lawyer, academic and politician. He has been a Member of Parliament of the Makueni Constituency, a Minister of Lands, and Environment and Natural Resources. He has also served as a Presidential Adviser in Kenya.
Kivutha has been a spokesperson for the National Convention Executive Council. At Nairobi University, he has also been an Associate Professor, Dean, Senior Lecturer and Chairman of Department of Private Law.
He has led various civic engagement and volunteerism initiatives and, in 2017, was nominated by the government as the National Goodwill Ambassador on Volunteerism in Kenya. Kivutha has developed a powerful model of citizen engagement with the county government in Makueni.
Kivutha holds Master of Law degrees in legal studies and human rights from The University of London and Harvard University.
