Alice Chadwick is a PhD researcher at the University of Bath, her research explores how volunteering interacts with employment and citizenship within community development projects in Sierra Leone. At a broader level she is interested in volunteer rights and the role of volunteerism within the 2030 sustainable development agenda.
Alice has previously volunteered with VSO as an International Citizen Service (ICS) team leader in Kenya and with Progressio ICS in Zimbabwe. Alice’s experiences with ICS are what led her to undertake research exploring the meaning of volunteering in different contexts.
Alice has previously worked in research within the UK public sector and has carried out independent research projects for clients such as Restless Development Sierra Leone and CAFOD. Alice holds an MRes in International Development from the University of Bath
